A trip back to the African continent, this time to Rwanda and Kenya. Trips to places like these are high on my priority, as I consider these places to be less accessible and best to visit when I have the energy and stamina.
Rwanda has a natural appeal, the landscape and environment alluded a sense of tranquility. The memorable part of this leg of the holiday was the hike in the forest to experience and see the gorillas. They were majestic to see up close and the respect for wild animals has to be given. The gorillas moved freely amongst the humans, with a little curiosity from the younger ones, while the larger and older gorillas are largely ignorant. I remember the gorillas coming so close that I was afraid, thankfully they were calm animals as long as they do not sense the humans as danger.
The next leg of the holiday was in Kenya, there was a bit of drive to Masai Mara. The accommodation was amazing, as it was the first time I tried glamping. The location was on top of a hill overlooking the plains, which provided a good view, especially in the morning and evenings. The nights were cold, but the tents keep the cold out pretty well and the bed was warm and cosy with a hot water bag. There were animals around the tents, heard but not seen, adding to the mystery of the wild. The safari rides out in the day were great, I saw many of my favourite animal, the giraffes.
This has been a trip to remember, for the exposure to nature, the relax pace of holiday and exoticness of the destinations.
