It has been a number of years with the first bike, FZ6N S2. The thought of getting another bike with a different characteristic has lingered on my mind. There are so many types of bikes to choose from and each has its appeal. I have tried cruisers, scrambles and street bikes, but yet to get onto a racing bike.
The FZ6 has served its purpose well, from a daily commute to a fun bike that can bring me overseas. I have grown into it and the riding has always felt natural. Another bike would be just an extra set of wheels for my adventures or thrills. It has to be bigger, faster and more advanced, I was not too concerned with whether it would be another street bike.
I did some looking around, reading reviews of the latest bikes and their fancy features. I ended up back with Yamaha, as I am a creature of familiarity.
The MT10 caught my eye for a few reasons. The look of it is quite appealing, having an aggressive transformer look. The engine has a crossplane crankshaft, similiar to that of the R1. These two reasons were good enough for me to consider it seriously. It was also pretty affordable as it was the cheaper 1 litre street bike amongst the other manufacturers and it was gaining popularity with the performance.
I made my way to the Yamaha showroom one day and took a look at it. It was a beauty and there was not much left to consider. I made the booking and there was ready stock of the bike, thus the process will take only a few days. I quickly went to the bank to prepare the cashier’s order in anticipation of the collection date, which was two days after.
That new bike collection feeling was full of excitement, as this one was more powerful and had a different riding characteristics. It was more agile, quicker and light to handle. I am glad to get this MT10.
